About Ken McLellan
Ken McLellan has been an active visual designer for the past 30 years with a background in the competitive drum corps and marching band activities. He has written for more the 50 ensembles ranging from 2A-6A bands.
He specializes in writing for small school bands, having many earn Superior ratings; advancing to the Area and State levels. Mr. Mclellan recently retired in May 2019 as the Director of Bands at Midway Middle School in Waco, Texas where he conducted the Wind Ensemble, Concert Band; assisted with the Symphonic Band, and taught beginning brass classes at River Valley Intermediate.
Prior to his tenure at Midway, he taught for 20 years in East Texas including Edgewood, Wills Point, and Mabank as well as four years in Phoenix, Arizona, and Tulsa Oklahoma. His ensembles have consistently earned Superior ratings throughout his career. He is an active clinician and consultant for various middle school and high school bands throughout Texas.
He holds a Bachelor of Music Education Degree from Oral Roberts University and a Master’s Degree in Music from Northern Arizona University.
Mr. McLellan is a member of TMAA and TMEA and is enjoying his retirement with his wife Trish of 39 years and spending time with their children and grandchildren.
